Nothing against either the greeting or the reality of “Happy Thanksgiving,” but giving the local and global realities of 2021, a “Healing Thanksgiving” may be the form that happiness takes this year.
Here at the parish, we will spend the three evenings (Monday-Wednesday, November 22-24) leading up to Thanksgiving with healing-related themes at our nightly Masses. Here is our schedule:
Monday, November 22: monthly bilingual St. Sharbel healing Mass at 7pm with the Sacrament of Anointing.
Tuesday, November 23: pastor’s monthly bilingual chapter talk after the 7pmMass, with the theme of “St. Joseph and a happy death.”
Wednesday, November 24: 7pm Spanish Mass, with option to go bilingual depending on the crowd, and Deacon Edgar Chaves will preach on the theme of “Thanksgiving In the Midst of It All.” Deacon Chaves will recount his own recovery from the destruction of the September tropical storm.
Thanksgiving Day, November 25: parish-wide 9am Thanksgiving Mass.
Parish leadership hopes parishioners will take advantage of one or more of these gatherings to meet their need for healing at this time.
