USA 250th Anniversary Activities Continue

Our three-part prayer and Lectio Divina series on “sacred texts” for the United States is underway.  After an evening reflecting on the hymn, “America the Beautiful,”  the series shifts to the well-known sonnet of the nineteenth-century author Emma Lazarus enshrined on the Statue of Liberty, “The New Colossus.”

This session featuring “The New Colossus” will be held Monday, June 29 at 6:30pm.  We will begin with praying Vespers, and then our exercise of meditating on the sonnet will begin.  The gathering will last about an hour.

The third and final session will be Friday, the 3rd of July at approximately 9am, following the 8:30am Mass.  Having prayed Morning Prayer during the Mass, we will move directly to a reflection on a segment of the Declaration of Independence.

St. Joseph Catholic Community will hold its daily Mass on Saturday, July 4 at 9am, and, weather permitting, outside the front doors of the church.  We hope many can join this bi-lingual liturgy.
