Toward the end of the summer, our long-anticipated parking lot renovation project was completed. Thanks to the generosity and patience of parishioners, the job has finally been done. And first reactions to the new lot have been uniformly positive, as parishioners enjoy the smooth surface, quality job and orderly lining of the space.
Because the found condition of the previous version of the lot was worse than the contractors originally thought, the cost of the project will be greater than the $220,000 cost first expected. We are still awaiting the final invoice.
In any event, this is a good time to continue making pledges on the Capital Campaign, and, if you can, to make additional donations to make it easier to complete our next projects in a timely fashion: the sound system and the roof. Thanks to those who have contributed so far, and thanks in advance to those whose contributions are still forthcoming.
Fortunately, we have found two bidders for the sound system whose estimates come in below the diocesan ceiling of $25,000, meaning that we can approve a job internally and not wait several months for a diocesan decision.
Elsewhere on the administrative front, we are aware of the continuing delays with the mailing of offertory envelopes from our provider. A customer service rep e-mailed the parish on Sept. 14 with the latest update. Here is an excerpt: “Unfortunately, we are still working through some material and production delays, which have made it difficult for our Production Team to provide an exact date that they can confidently stand behind. I do not want to provide you with a date simply for the sake of having one, only to have it change again. I know this is not the answer you were hoping for, particularly given the length of our relationship and your continued partnership with us. …The moment our Production Team is able to provide a reliable mailing date, I will make sure you are notified immediately. We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and, most importantly, your continued partnership with us. We truly value your business and deeply regret the inconvenience and frustration these delays have caused.
We echo their emphasis on appreciating your patience and understanding. Hopefully this lengthy delay will be resolved soon.
